RCT Summer Education Camps 2024 - The Lion King Kids

Two-Week Summer Camp!

Ages 6–12

Renton Civic Theatre is excited to announce our Summer Education Programs, featuring two incredible opportunities for kids and tweens to shine on stage!

In each session, your child will learn the basics of acting & singing by participating in a real theatre production in our historic theatre space! Our professional teaching artists will guide students through the whole process of putting on a show, including how to audition, memorize lines, learn choreography, and more! The experience culminates with an exciting live performance at the end of two weeks, where friends and family can come watch!

Session 2 is The Lion King Kids!

Synopsis: Disney's The Lion King has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world, and now you have the opportunity to produce this one-of-a-kind musical in your community. Bring the African savanna to life on your stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle and back again in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.

The Lion King KIDS features classic songs from the Broadway musical and animated feature film, including “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” “He Lives in You,” and “Hakuna Matata.” Young performers will also get the chance to learn a wide range of new theatrical skills—such as mask-making and puppetry—encouraging them to explore this beloved story with creativity and pride.

All roles are open to individuals of any gender.

Session 2 Camp Highlights:

• Perform in The Lion King Kids, a 30–45 minute musical!

• Receive professional instruction from teaching artists who’ll coach students through the process of putting on a show from scratch.

• Experience fun-filled two-week sessions including acting, singing, dancing, and more!

• Perform for Friends & Family at the end of the 2 week camp!

Camp Dates & Times:

• Camp Dates: July 21 - August 1

• Camp Times: Monday - Friday, 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM

• Evening performance: August 1st at 6:00PM

Cost:

• All tuition: $650, payable in full upon reservation.

Refund policy:

$150 of tuition is non-refundable. Cancellations will be refunded (less the $150) until May 15th. All cancellations after that date are non-refundable.

Additional Care Options: Childcare before and after camp activities will be offered at the following times:

• Before Care: 9:00–9:30 AM

• After Care: 3:30–5:30 PM

Additional childcare separate from tuition:

• Before Care: $50/week 

• After Care: $150/week 

Childcare arrangements will be made via a separate communication from the camp. Childcare payments are non-refundable.

Spots are limited to 30 campers per session—secure your spot today! Once the camps are filled, additional eligible applicants will be put on a waiting list. If a spot opens up, it will be offered to waitlisted families on a first come, first serve basis. Applicants' families will be given a 48 hour window to accept admission if/when a spot opens up. If that window passes, the opportunity is forfeited and the next person on the list will be given the opportunity.
